An Analytical Study of Education of Muslim Women and Girls in India

This study was commissioned by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD), as a step towards the preparation of a National Plan of Action for Advancement of Muslim Women’s Education in India for enhancing their participation in elementary and secondary education and in higher education especially in professional and technical education. Specifically, the Study has analysed the present literacy and educational status of Muslim Girls and Women in India, the social, cultural and educational factors and forces hindering their educational participation against the backdrop of existing policies, programmes and schemes to promote education of girls and women in general and those belonging to educationally backward minorities and other socially and economically disadvantaged sections of the society.
