This paper explores the interplay between school and home in determining child learning. The authors use baseline data from the Young Lives Study in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to compare indicators of child learning according to type of school attended - public or private. The authors further examine if parental education acts as a complement or substitute for schooling in determining child learning.
