Community Matters: Fulfilling Learning Potentials for Young Men and Women

UNESCO Institute of Lifelong Learning (UIL)UNESCO

This report is the last of four policy briefs released by the UIL in 2014. It highlights five topic areas, starting with an overview of the global youth equity challenge. It then discusses the nine countries in which 70% of illiterate youth are concentrated, the need for renewed international commitment to improve community education opportunities, and the key features of community learning centers. The brief then identifies best practices from around the world for engaging youth to participate in these learning centers.
