Education Policy Research Series Discussion Document No. 3: Educational Neurosciences - More Problems than Promise?

This Discussion Document reviews some key results from recent studies on neuroscience, and it critically revisits the debate on educational neuroscience and brain-based education.

The author puts the debate in its historical and educational context and argues that recent research into the brain shows that the conceptual foundations of cognitive sciences and educational neuroscience need to be reconsidered. An important question for educational neuroscience is what learning is, and whether humans have unique forms of learning that make them different from other living things such as mice.
