Improving Literacy in Developing Countries Using Speech Recognition-Supported Games on Mobile Devices

This study looks at the ways mobile devices with speech recogniition-supported software can be used to enhance learning among low-income students struggling to learn a second language or improve their reading skills and comprehension. In this U.S.-based study, researchers deployed mobile-device-based educational games in a rural district outside of Hyderabad, and examined the ways game-based learning enhanced vocabulary growth.
