The practice of using mobile technology, either by itself or in complement with other information and communications technology (ICT), to enable learning anytime and anywhere, has moved from being largely pilot-based to now including a range of large-scale implementations at schools and universities around the world. From the USA to Uruguay, Thailand to Turkey, governments and institutions have introduced tablets and netbooks to learners in the hope of reaping the many benefits associated with 1:1 computing in education.
